Bi-annual Conference of the Defoe Society, Worcester.

In this section we shall bring news of Defoe Conferences around the world. The Defoe Society has bi-annual conferences. This year the Conference was held at the University of Worcester, 14-16 July. Leading Defoe scholars from around the world discussed a wide range of subjects organised around Panels. These were: 1. Defoe and Narrative 2. Text and authorship 3 Gender in the Fiction of Haywood and Defoe 4. Robinson Crusoe 5. Defoe’s London and the Wider World. 6. Defoe’s Bibliography These literary ideas may seem remote and abstruse to many readers. In reality, not so. Contributors and audience were united in a simple wish to get more sense and enjoyment from Defoe’s writings.
